Spirit of Fire 3D Screensaver 2.4 build 6

There certainly is something magical about fire – at least something very attractive about watching the flames roar. If I had a fireplace at my place, I would definitely spend a lot of time in front of it, watching the flames and perhaps drinking a cup of hot chocolate. Unfortunately I do not have a fireplace. What I do have is a computer, an internet connection, and access to a wide range of applications that can help me turn my desktop into a virtual fireplace.

Such an application is the 3PlaneSoft-developed Spirit of Fire 3D Screensaver. As this application’s name so adequately points out, this is a screensaver. When the computer goes idle, the screensaver shows up and displays the following:

- A stone-built fireplace with a roaring fire inside. You can see the flames consume several wooden logs.
- On top of the fireplace, on the mantelpiece, there’s a framed picture. The nice thing is that you can select one of your own pictures to be displayed in that frame. You can do this from the Settings window.
- On the mantelpiece there’s a vintage-looking clock that displays the actual time.

All the images are accompanied by sounds and music. You can mute the sounds/music by pressing the M key while Spirit of Fire 3D Screensaver is running. Or you can go to the Settings window and disable them altogether.

Installation – at the time of writing this, support is provided for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit editions). During the installation process you can choose between these languages: English, German, French and Russian.

During the installation process you are asked to install the 3Planesoft Screensaver Manager. This manager provides information about your currently installed 3PlaneSoft screensaver and about other screensaver 3PlaneSoft has to offer. The manager allows you to access the settings of all the 3PlaneSoft screensavers installed on your system. It also comes with a feature to automatically change the screensaver after a specific amount of time, or to display a different screensaver each time the computer goes idle. This manager is quite useful if you have more than one 3PlaneSoft screensaver.

Limitations – a nag screen will appear after 90 seconds when using the trial version. To get rid of this nag screen you have to purchase a license.
